Real World Experience
Romney has over 25 years of financial restructuring experience advising companies and their various stakeholders, as well as assuming key executive positions in troubled companies. Mr. Romney has structured and executed numerous financings for public and private companies in the U.S., and Mexico. Romney has managed both out-of-court and in-court engagements where he has advised creditor committees, secured creditors, debtors, investors, professionals, and bankruptcy trustees. He has been a trustee for a bankruptcy liquidating trust and also been retained as an expert witness for matters dealing with insolvency, fraudulent conveyance, and valuation feasibility.
Romney's extensive experience has been with companies in a variety of industries including; agriculture, insurance, paper & packaging, lodging, consumer products, real estate, banking, steel, and mining. Romney’s advisory and executive assignments have included Chatham Technologies, Inc., Genicom, Inc., Seminis, Inc., Westar Hotels, Inc., Grupo Mexico, Paper Pak Products, Inc., Atchison Casting, and Metropolitan Mortgage and Securities Co. Most recently, Romney was engaged as the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Restructuring Officer in the turnaround of a defense contractor with government contracts throughout the United States.
Background
Prior to forming FINCO, Romney spent a combined seven years in the Corporate Turnaround/Restructuring Groups of Alvarez & Marsal, Inc. and Arthur Andersen where he served as a Managing Director. Additionally, Romney had fifteen years of banking experience with a money center bank and a large regional bank, and was chief financial officer for a privately held lodging company, which was successfully sold to a large publicly held hotel company.
Mr. Romney earned his bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Utah, and his master’s (MBA) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Northwestern) in Chicago, Illinois. He is active in the Central Texas Turnaround Management Association, and had served as its President-elect. |
